The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calvancante looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Calvancante doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Calvancante misses with a body shot.
Kapena defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Calvancante.
Kapena looks to throw the jab but Calvancante is out of range.

Kapena has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Kapena cracks a nice hook into Calvancante's ribs.
Kapena bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Calvancante's head.
Kapena smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Calvancante walks into a stiff left hand from Kapena.
Kapena keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Kapena's jab looks to have found its range, popping Calvancante under the eye.
Kapena scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Calvancante doesn't seem bothered though.

Calvancante tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kapena swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mauricio Calvancante. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Oh Calvancante is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kapena thuds a left hand into Calvancante's body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Calvancante leaves his chin hanging out and Kapena seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Calvancante crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

After winning the bout, Kalani Kapena thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
