PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Leben (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Staph Aureus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leben comes to the cage accompanied by Skrillex - Kyoto. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Leben!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Staph Aureus!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aureus tries to clinch but Leben moves out of range.

Leben connects with a body shot that sends Aureus's belly button to the back.

Aureus shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Leben manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Leben working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Aureus.

Leben is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Aureus is fighting to break Leben's control of his arms but Leben is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Aureus postures up and lands a big shot to Leben's brow.

Leben wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Chris Leben has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Leben avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Aureus throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Aureus moves away from the strike by Leben.

Leben lands a big shot that drops Aureus! Can he finish him?

It looks like Staph Aureus has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Leben accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Leben throws a big elbow that misses.

Leben got a little sloppy there for a moment and Aureus has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Leben has managed to get both his arms back between Aureus's legs - danger averted.
Leben works over Aureus with some ground and pound from guard.

Aureus looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Leben is in close to Aureus's body, working some short punches and elbows.

That has opened up Staph Aureus's cut even more.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Staph Aureus's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
