The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Columbo Gatti and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Audi goes for a double leg but Van Gompel avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Van Gompel continues to drive forward.
Audi is trying to drag Van Gompel to the mat but Van Gompel just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Audi pulls guard successfully.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Van Gompel slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Audi's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Audi wants to get up but he can't break Van Gompel's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
