PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Extreme KO (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spanky McFaddy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Extreme KO!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Spanky McFaddy!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Jonathan Paton and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
KO doesn't manage to clinch there - McFaddy circles away.
KO wants to clinch.
McFaddy scores with a head kick.
KO moves in looking to clinch but McFaddy pushes him off.
KO scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
McFaddy swats away the attempt to clinch by KO.
KO wants to clinch.
KO throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

McFaddy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee asks McFaddy politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. McFaddy prefers to stall for the moment though.
KO pushes McFaddy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, McFaddy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
McFaddy controls the position from side control.

KO is trying to buck McFaddy off.
You can see the frustration on KO's face as McFaddy controls the position.
KO wants to get back to his feet.
McFaddy is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
KO wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McFaddy slows the pace down.
KO tries to escape but McFaddy is in control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McFaddy remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
KO is looking to work his way out of this bad position but McFaddy is controlling him well.
KO is breathing heavily.
McFaddy in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Despite being in the dominant position, Spanky McFaddy just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McFaddy keeps the fight on the outside.

McFaddy slips a jab and a cross from KO.

McFaddy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
KO wants to stand back up but McFaddy manages to pass into side control.
KO wants to get back to his feet but McFaddy drags him back down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McFaddy takes a little break here. KO wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
McFaddy lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear KO down.

McFaddy is staying tight to KO's torso, preventing him from escaping.

McFaddy stands up.

McFaddy shoots in and bounces KO off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
McFaddy seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



McFaddy drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
KO is pushing McFaddy's head away, looking to escape. McFaddy manages to hold on to the position though.

McFaddy decides to take the fight back to the feet.
KO tries to close the distance and clinch but McFaddy swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

McFaddy bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

McFaddy just content to control the position.

KO is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, McFaddy asserts his dominance and retains side control.
KO is being controlled here.
KO is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but McFaddy has just dragged him back down to the mat.
McFaddy is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
KO is looking to work his way out of this bad position but McFaddy is controlling him well.
McFaddy in side control lands a decent elbow.
McFaddy prevents KO from escaping the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

McFaddy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
KO wants to get back to his feet but McFaddy is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spanky McFaddy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


McFaddy circles away from the clinch attempt.
KO tries to close the distance and clinch up but McFaddy swats him away and circles back towards the center.
KO tries to bum rush McFaddy with a series of wild strikes but McFaddy uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
KO misses the jab.
KO moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

McFaddy scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
KO is trying to stand.
KO wants to stand back up but McFaddy manages to pass into side control.
McFaddy controls the position from side control.
KO pushes McFaddy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, McFaddy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

McFaddy is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down KO's shoulder. That is not cool.
KO wants to get back to his feet but McFaddy drags him back down.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McFaddy pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McFaddy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
KO throws a series of punches but McFaddy moves out of range.
McFaddy keeps the fight on the outside.

McFaddy instigates a clinch.
KO wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but McFaddy has him pressed against the cage.
McFaddy drops to a knee looking for a takedown but KO gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

KO misses with a wild combination.

KO gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
McFaddy stops KO from standing up.
McFaddy pushing down on KO's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

McFaddy decides to stand and escape the position.

and McFaddy counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

McFaddy takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

McFaddy is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
McFaddy content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Extreme KO has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Spanky McFaddy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
