Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Quiet Monkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar Rivas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monkey comes to the cage accompanied by Epic - Faith No More. Rivas has chosen Cypress Hill-Insane in the Membrane as his entrance music. Quiet Monkey has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Quiet Monkey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Oscar Rivas!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monkey is looking to clinch.
Rivas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Monkey moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Monkey shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rivas pinned against the cage. Rivas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Monkey closes the distance and clinches.
Monkey is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Monkey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A thudding body kick lands there by Rivas!
Some bone on bone action there as Rivas checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Monkey closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Monkey lands in his opponent's guard.
Monkey passes Rivas's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Rivas tries to roll over but Monkey keeps him under control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Monkey seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rivas does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Rivas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Monkey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Monkey looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Monkey trying to control the action but Rivas is working from the bottom.
Rivas pushes Monkey off looking to stand but Monkey dives back in and keeps control.
Rivas is not content to let Monkey control the position.

Rivas looking for submissions off his back.
Monkey is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Monkey has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Rivas defend it? Monkey steps over the head and cranks it - Rivas is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Monkey!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Quiet Monkey!
Post fight, an emotional Quiet Monkey said 'Did he just poop his pants?'.
