Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vaughn Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackie Poon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackie Poon is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patterson tries a head kick but it misses.
Patterson doesn't manage to clinch there - Poon circles away.
Poon swinging wildly here.

Poon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Patterson, pushing him back against the cage.

Poon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Poon clinches with his opponent.
Patterson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Poon gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Poon tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Poon is defending well against a takedown attempt.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Poon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch but Poon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Poon swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Patterson counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Poon wants the takedown. Patterson is fighting it off but Poon persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Patterson's guard against the cage.
Patterson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jackie Poon hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Patterson fails with an attempt to clinch.

Poon gets the takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Poon tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Poon remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Patterson is not content to let Poon control the position.

Patterson tries to roll over but Poon keeps him under control.
Poon wants to control but Patterson is keeping him busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jackie Poon was stalling too much, according to the referee.

and Patterson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A head kick from Poon lands but Patterson takes it in his stride.

It looks like Vaughn Patterson has been cut.
Poon swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Patterson counters with a straight right hand.
Patterson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Poon misses with a double jab
and Patterson counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Patterson is looking to clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Patterson moves into the clinch successfully.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Patterson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Poon avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Patterson moves out of range of the body kick from Poon.

Poon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Patterson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Poon on the ground.

Poon takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Jackie Poon has got the better of the ground game so far.

Poon tries to pass to full mount but Patterson defends it.
Poon is nestled in close to Patterson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Poon wants to work for an arm triangle but Patterson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Patterson tries to roll over but Poon keeps him under control.
Poon uses his free foot to push down on Patterson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Patterson.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Poon working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Patterson turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Poon off and cradles Patterson's limp body as Poon celebrates with his corner.
