Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Benjamin Nieves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Karlov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Benjamin Nieves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Karlov!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Ivan Kurochkin and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nieves tries to sprawl but Karlov drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Karlov tries to pass the half guard into mount. Nieves knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Nieves is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Nieves is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Karlov pulls his head out easily.
Nieves wants to improve his position but Karlov is controlling well.
Karlov trying to pass the guard but Nieves defending well.
Nieves gets back to full guard.
Nieves working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Karlov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Karlov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Nieves looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Karlov trying to control but Nieves is working from the bottom.
Nieves will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Karlov postures up and lands a big shot to Nieves's brow.
Karlov tries to free his leg and advance position but Nieves is retaining full guard.
Nieves is looking for a triangle but Karlov pushes his legs off easily.
Karlov trying to control the position from guard on top but Nieves is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nieves looking for a guillotine here but Karlov defends easily.
Nieves has his foot on Karlov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Karlov works his way back into a safe position though.
Nieves is breathing heavily.
Karlov tries to free his leg and advance position but Nieves is retaining full guard.
Karlov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Karlov is posturing up here but Nieves has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Karlov tries to roll out but it's too tight and Karlov has to tap! Slick submission there by Nieves!
