The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laprise throws a nice looking combination but Wiatrzyk bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Laprise goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

It looks like Mack Wiatrzyk has been cut.

Wiatrzyk gets a double leg takedown into Laprise's guard.
Wiatrzyk might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Wiatrzyk won't allow Laprise to get back to his feet.
Wiatrzyk looking to pass the guard.
Laprise is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Wiatrzyk wants to control from the top but Laprise keeps moving.

Wiatrzyk stands and steps away. Laprise gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Laprise throws a left and a right that both miss

and Wiatrzyk counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Laprise can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Laprise is trying to stand back up but Wiatrzyk is controlling him

Wiatrzyk seems to be working for a kimura but Laprise defends the submission attempt.
Laprise wants to get back to his feet.
Wiatrzyk is trying to control. Laprise wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Wiatrzyk has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Laprise is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Wiatrzyk is stalling here but it's allowed Laprise to get half guard.

Wiatrzyk wants to pass to mount but Laprise is defending the position.
Laprise is trying to stand.
Wiatrzyk is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Laprise really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wiatrzyk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wiatrzyk moves into full mount! Laprise won't be happy about that!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wiatrzyk can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Laprise is looking to escape.
Laprise is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Wiatrzyk landing strikes from the mount.
Laprise's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Wiatrzyk is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Laprise is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Laprise flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Wiatrzyk anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Laprise and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Wiatrzyk slips an arm under Laprise chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Wiatrzyk has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Wiatrzyk is squeezing on Laprise like an anaconda would it's prey. Laprise fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Mack Wiatrzyk!
