PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugues De Payens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mitchell comes to the cage accompanied by Voices- Rev Theory. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Mitchell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hugues De Payens!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Ivan Kurochkin and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mitchell throws a leg kick that is checked
and De Payens connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
De Payens throws a good cross that connects.
Mitchell catches De Payens with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
De Payens looks to score with a jab to the body but Mitchell is just out of range.
Mitchell throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
De Payens lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

De Payens takes a jab right on the kisser.

De Payens slips a jab and a cross from Mitchell.
That kick from De Payens tenderised Mitchell's leg. Mitchell is trying to keep his angry face on.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
The fighters circle momentarily. De Payens darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
De Payens connects with a body shot that sends Mitchell's belly button to the back.
Mitchell is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mitchell misses with a looping right.
Mitchell takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Mitchell drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.


Mitchell is rocked!
Whack! De Payens lands a heavy head kick that drops Mitchell. The ref tackles De Payens to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Mitchell was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Hugues De Payens!
