The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Emerson Jorge and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simmons fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Armando sprawls well initially but Simmons persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Armando wants to get back to his feet.
Simmons has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Armando is looking to control Simmons's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Armando avoid being mounted?
Simmons maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Armando could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Simmons has cracked it and Armando is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Simmons!

After the fight, Brett Simmons was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
