Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Elvin De Luca!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Penn Reyes!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reyes checks a low kick from De Luca.
De Luca tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reyes swats him away and circles back towards the center.
De Luca is looking to clinch.
De Luca swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
De Luca pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Reyes back to the cage. De Luca follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
De Luca fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Reyes avoids the head kick by De Luca.

Reyes shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Reyes stalling.
Reyes throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Reyes takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
De Luca wants to get back to his feet.

Reyes is trying to work for a kimura but De Luca is defending well.
De Luca controlling the position for now.
De Luca wants to control but Reyes is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Reyes is keen to just control but De Luca is a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Reyes gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Reyes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but De Luca defends well and Reyes ends up having to push De Luca into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Reyes is trying to drag De Luca to the mat but De Luca just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
De Luca tries to break free but Reyes pushes him back against the cage.
De Luca tries to throw a body punch but Reyes avoids it by throwing De Luca back against the cage.

Reyes breaks from the clinch.

Reyes drives through with a takedown into De Luca's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
De Luca is trying to control the position from the bottom.
De Luca can't keep his opponent in guard - Reyes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
De Luca tries to get to full guard but Reyes has control of the leg.

Reyes gets to his feet - De Luca follows without any prompting.
Reyes misses with a low kick.
Reyes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
De Luca closes the distance and clinches up with Reyes, looking for a takedown. De Luca pushes Reyes against the cage but Reyes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
De Luca is breathing heavily.

Reyes rushes De Luca and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Reyes tries to pull guard but De Luca holds him up against the cage and eventually Reyes drops back down to his feet.
Elvin De Luca has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Penn Reyes.
De Luca misses with a knee to the head.

De Luca escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
De Luca stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and De Luca wants it to stay on the feet.
De Luca goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
De Luca throws a head kick but Reyes moves out of range.

De Luca is trying to control but Reyes manages to pass to mount!

De Luca is looking for a sweep. Reyes is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
De Luca wants to control but Reyes is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Reyes is trying to control. De Luca wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reyes is thwarting De Luca's attempts to control the position.

De Luca has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Reyes is working away from the top position though.
Reyes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but De Luca does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Reyes is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and De Luca defends it well.

Reyes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in De Luca's guard.

Joe Penn Reyes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

De Luca is refusing to be controlled, as Reyes sits in half guard.
Well, if Reyes is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
De Luca tries to get to full guard but Reyes has control of the leg.
De Luca is doing well to control the position and prevent Reyes from advancing to side control.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Joe Penn Reyes wasn't active enough on the ground.
De Luca misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
De Luca changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Reyes tries to avoid it but De Luca manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Reyes to the ground. Reyes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from De Luca enables Reyes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. De Luca manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

De Luca wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Reyes manages to pass to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Joe Penn Reyes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Reyes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
