Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Kovalov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonid Brezhnev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brezhnev gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kovalov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kovalov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kovalov slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Brezhnev can't keep his opponent in guard - Kovalov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Brezhnev is trying is best to control the position here.
Kovalov passes into side control, despite Brezhnev's attempt to control the position.
Kovalov is staying tight to Brezhnev's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Kovalov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brezhnev can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Antonio Kovalov just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
A combination from Brezhnev does no damage.

Kovalov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Brezhnev to the mat! Brezhnev manages to get full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kovalov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kovalov avoids the attempt from Brezhnev to control.

Brezhnev moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Kovalov tries to keep at a distance but Brezhnev has taken the fight into the clinch.
Kovalov keeps control of Brezhnev as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Kovalov has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Brezhnev is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Brezhnev is trying to break free.

Brezhnev manages to break the clinch.
Brezhnev throws a right hand that Kovalov ducks under and follows up with a left that Kovalov also avoids with ease.
Kovalov circles away from the clinch attempt.

Brezhnev is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Brezhnev breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Kovalov counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kovalov.
Kovalov tries for a takedown but Brezhnev manages to get underhooks.

Kovalov lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Kovalov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Leonid Brezhnev has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Kovalov is tying to control. Brezhnev wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Brezhnev trying to hold on to Kovalov's head to control him but Kovalov postures up.
Kovalov takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Antonio Kovalov just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Brezhnev!
Brezhnev throws the kick towards the body but Kovalov avoids it.

Brezhnev clinches but Kovalov breaks the clinch

and Kovalov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Brezhnev isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kovalov stacks Brezhnev on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kovalov!
Kovalov is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Brezhnev's shoulder. That is not cool.

And that's the end of the fight!
Antonio Kovalov showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kovalov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
