PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tim Wrights (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pulis Patola (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tim Wrights!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pulis Patola!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wrights closes this distance looking for a takedown but Patola circles away.
Wrights throws a head kick that misses.

Wrights closes the distance and pushes Patola back into the cage.
Patola tries to score a body lock takedown but Wrights shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Wrights wants a takedown.

Patola is trying to trip Wrights. He has hold of a leg but Wrights is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Patola persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Wrights keeping moving, preventing Patola from controlling successfully.
Wrights controls Patola momentarily but Patola frees himself.
Patola wants to control from the top but Wrights keeps moving.
Patola stays in close to Wrights's body and controls the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Pulis Patola.
Patola shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wrights but Wrights pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Patola is trying hard to land a takedown here. Wrights sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Tim Wrights has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pulis Patola.

Patola trying to control but Wrights is working from the bottom.
Wrights is trying to hold Patola in close to prevent damage but Patola has managed to pass into half guard.

Wrights wants to improve his position but instead Patola has moved into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Patola thows a huge punch but Wrights dodges it nicely.

Patola takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Patola tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Patola not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Wrights has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Patola is working away from the top position though.
Wrights is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Wrights keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Patola wants to pass the guard but Wrights is defending well.
Patola not doing much here.
Wrights flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Patola wants to control but Wrights is keeping him busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Pulis Patola was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Patola drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wrights has control of Patola's left arm, preventing Patola from doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pulis Patola dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Patola slaps away a takedown attempt from Wrights, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Patola closes this distance looking for a takedown but Wrights circles away.
Patola fails with the takedown.
Patola looks for a takedown but Wrights sprawls well.

Patola closes the distance and clinches up with Wrights, looking for a takedown. Patola pushes Wrights against the cage but Wrights circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Wrights is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Patola is looking to improve his position.

Patola looks like he's trying to stand up.

Wrights is working for a submission of some sort.
Wrights stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Patola keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Wrights tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Patola.
Patola tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Patola is looking to control Wrights's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Patola avoid being mounted?
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Patola is staying active underneath Wrights, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Tim Wrights has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Wrights slaps away a takedown attempt from Patola, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Pulis Patola seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wrights moves into range and clinches up with Patola.

Patola jumps guard and drags Wrights to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Wrights tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Patola manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Patola swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wrights stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wrights wants it to stay on the feet.

Wrights keeping moving, preventing Patola from controlling successfully.

Patola shoots in looking for a takedown. Wrights tries to sprawl out of it but Patola keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wrights manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Patola looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Wrights!
Patola cracks Wrights with a big right hand but Wrights just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Wrights takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Patola throws an elbow but Wrights slips to the side and avoids it well.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Patola wants to control but Wrights is keeping him busy.
Wrights is trying is best to control the position here.
Wrights moves into full guard.
Patola stays in close to Wrights's body and controls the position.
Wrights is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Wrights looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Patola is in close to Wrights's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Patola drops back looking for a leg! Wrights is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wrights manages to kick Patola off! Patola jumps back into Wrights's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I would just about give that final round to Pulis Patola.
I think Patola has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
