PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Stiglitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Martinez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hugo Stiglitz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carlos Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paulsen Ambrosius and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stiglitz shoots in looking for a takedown. Martinez tries to sprawl out of it but Stiglitz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Martinez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Martinez stuffs the takedown attempt from Stiglitz. Stiglitz gets slowly back to his feet.
Stiglitz leaves Martinez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Stiglitz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Martinez is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stiglitz wants to sweep here but Martinez controlling him for the moment.
Martinez looking to sit in guard and control but Stiglitz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Hugo Stiglitz just wasn't active enough.
Martinez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Stiglitz.

Stiglitz shoots for a double leg takedown but Martinez sprawls well. He's pushed Stiglitz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Martinez passes Stiglitz's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Both fighters circling a little - Martinez finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Hugo Stiglitz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Martinez.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Martinez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Stiglitz sprawls well. Stiglitz wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Martinez gets slowly back to his feet.

Martinez shoots for a takedown but Stiglitz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Stiglitz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Martinez pinned against the cage. Martinez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Stiglitz shoots in and drives through. Martinez sprawls well.
Martinez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Martinez wants it to stay on the feet.

Stiglitz tries to pull guard but Martinez holds him up against the cage and eventually Stiglitz drops back down to his feet.

Martinez isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Stiglitz stacks Martinez on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Stiglitz!

Stiglitz content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Martinez parries the strikes from Stiglitz easily there. Stiglitz is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Martinez to escape.

Stiglitz seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Martinez for as long as he can get away with.
The ground and pound from Stiglitz seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Stiglitz decides to stand up, so the ref orders Martinez to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Carlos Martinez.
Well Martinez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
