Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Ashley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karlos Tom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karlos Tom has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Charlie Ashley's chin.

The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ashley misses with a double jab.

Tom closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Tom is working for a kimura but Ashley is defending it quite comfortably.
Tom is keen to just control but Ashley is a slippery customer.
Tom with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Tom seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ashley does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Tom missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Tom takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Tom stands up from half guard.

Tom closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tom lands in his opponent's guard.
Ashley really is a fat lump.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ashley seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Ashley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tom on the ground.

Tom trying to control but Ashley is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tom wants to get up but he can't break Ashley's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Tom wants to control from the top but Ashley keeps moving.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Ashley striking off his back but it's not causing Tom any problems.

Karlos Tom has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Ashley swings for the body but Tom moves out of range.

Tom shoots in and bounces Ashley off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tom won't allow Ashley to sweep him here.
Tom loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Tom trying to control the position from guard on top but Ashley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tom slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Karlos Tom wasn't active enough on the ground.

Tom gets the takedown into side control.
Tom looking to control but instead Ashley has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tom working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Tom wants to take a breather but Ashley is having none of it.
Ashley is trying to get back to full guard.
Ashley controlling the position for now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tom is keen to just control but Ashley is a slippery customer.

Tom throws a head kick that misses.

Tom shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ashley manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Tom has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Ashley controls Tom momentarily but Tom frees himself.

Tom looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Ashley!

Tom has an Americana. Ashley didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Tom is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Tom hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
