PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between MC Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Crumbie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, MC Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Karl Crumbie!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Hall. Those never looked like landing.
Hall misses the body punch

and Crumbie counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Hall manages to break the clinch.
Hall changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Crumbie tries to avoid it but Hall manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Crumbie to the ground. Crumbie escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
MC Hall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Crumbie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Crumbie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hall as he jumps to the side.
Crumbie fails to land the takedown.
MC Hall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Karl Crumbie.
Hall throws a push kick but Crumbie slaps the foot to one side.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Crumbie.

Hall shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Crumbie manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crumbie is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hall stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Crumbie swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hall has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Crumbie is proving hard to escape from.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hall shoots in looking for a takedown but Crumbie manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hall's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Crumbie shoots in for a double leg but Hall sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Crumbie is looking to clinch.
Hall displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Crumbie.
Hall fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hall throws a head kick that misses.
Crumbie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Hall counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

MC Hall has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Crumbie with a lazy takedown attempt
and Hall counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Hall goes for a double leg but Crumbie avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Crumbie continues to drive forward.
Crumbie is looking to take this one to the mat.
Crumbie tries to pull guard but Hall holds him up against the cage and eventually Crumbie drops back down to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Crumbie is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hall gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Crumbie looks winded!

Hall gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Crumbie regains guard.

Hall decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Hall shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Crumbie napping and manages to drive through into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Crumbie is not content to let Hall control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hall is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Crumbie is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

MC Hall dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Crumbie scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Crumbie working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Hall sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Crumbie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Hall manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Hall keeps the fight on the outside.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crumbie lands with a thumping leg kick.
Hall just misses with a punch to the body.
Crumbie keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Crumbie moves to clinch but Hall breaks away
and Hall counters with an outside leg kick.
Hall looks for a takedown but Crumbie sprawls well.

Hall looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hall slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

MC Hall has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Hall is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hall shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for MC Hall. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Crumbie shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Crumbie tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hall defends well and Crumbie ends up having to push Hall into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Hall is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Crumbie gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Hall gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Crumbie.
Crumbie drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hall gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Crumbie is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Hall escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hall thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Crumbie if he has to take too many more of those.

Hall gets in close and instigates a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hall is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Crumbie misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Hall prevents Crumbie from breaking the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Hall - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Hall has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Crumbie regains guard immediately.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hall engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

MC Hall has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Hall looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

MC Hall dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Hall throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Hall closes the distance and clinches.
Hall tries for a takedown. No joy.
Crumbie is trying to break free.

Hall manages to pull guard.
Crumbie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hall works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Crumbie postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hall is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Crumbie, into his guard.
Hall slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hall looking to sit in guard and control but Crumbie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hall is adopting a defensive guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hall keeping moving, preventing Crumbie from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Crumbie postures up in Hall's guard and throws a big left but Hall blocks it.
Crumbie looking to pass the guard.
Crumbie trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Crumbie trying to control but Hall is working from the bottom.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Crumbie accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Crumbie tries to stand but Hall is controlling from the bottom.
Hall knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Crumbie on the ground.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hall fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Crumbie avoids it really well and circles away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hall stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hall wants it to stay on the feet.
Crumbie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hall swivels and escapes.

Crumbie feints and as Hall raises his hands in defense, Crumbie changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hall working for a triangle but Crumbie defends it easily.

Crumbie postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hall is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Crumbie, into his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hall controls from within his opponent's guard.
Hall stands and throws Crumbie's legs to the side, diving into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to MC Hall.
Well Hall has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
