The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tanaka shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Abucay counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Abucay cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Tanaka gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Abucay makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Tanaka really felt that one!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hiroshi Tanaka. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tanaka tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Abucay manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Tanaka tries to score a power double leg takedown but Abucay sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Tanaka somewhat.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jaco Abucay wasn't active enough on the ground.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Abucay scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Tanaka doesn't seem bothered though.
Abucay pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Tanaka back to the cage. Abucay follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

It looks like Hiroshi Tanaka has been cut.
Abucay closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Abucay's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Abucay duly obliges.
Oh Tanaka is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Tanaka takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
That kick from Abucay tenderised Tanaka's leg. Tanaka is trying to keep his angry face on.

Abucay gets a double leg takedown into Tanaka's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Abucay wants to control from the top but Tanaka keeps moving.

Abucay drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Abucay jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Abucay would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Abucay connects with a couple of short punches.
Abucay has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Tanaka is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Abucay wants to control from the top but Tanaka keeps moving.

Abucay is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Tanaka has his foot on Abucay's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Abucay works his way back into a safe position though.

Tanaka is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Abucay defends well.

Tanaka pushes a forearm under Abucay's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Abucay is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
