Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roy Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Felix Ming!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ming changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nelson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Nelson is trying to get back to half guard.

Ming is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nelson has escaped the position, nice work there.
Nelson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Nelson stops Ming from passing to mount.

Ming working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Nelson sneaks back into half guard.

Ming is working for a kimura here but Nelson manages to reverse the position and he's now in Ming's guard.
Ming looking for a sweep. Not yet Ming, not yet.
Nelson works over Ming with some ground and pound from guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ming keeping moving, preventing Nelson from controlling successfully.

Nelson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ming is keeping the position for now.

Ming looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ming throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Nelson trying to control the position from guard on top but Ming is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ming had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nelson defends it easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nelson throws a big elbow that misses.
Nelson postures up and lands a big shot to Ming's brow.
Nelson looking to pass the guard.
Nelson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Nelson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ming has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Nelson has managed to get both his arms back between Ming's legs - danger averted.
Nelson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nelson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ming is proving hard to escape from.

Ming working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nelson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nelson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Nelson is pushing down on Ming's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ming is fighting to maintain full guard but Nelson has managed to sneak the leg through.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nelson seems to be looking for submissions.
Ming slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Ming tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Ming has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nelson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Nelson works over Ming with some ground and pound from guard.
Nelson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Ming looking for a sweep. Not yet Ming, not yet.
Nelson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Ming escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nelson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Nelson works over Ming with some ground and pound from guard.
Nelson scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Ming looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Nelson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ming swivels though and keeps the full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nelson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ming's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ming is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Nelson rolls with it to try and escape but Ming cranks on the arm and Nelson is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Felix Ming!
