PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Oven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Kingston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kingston's choice of entrance music: Sean Kingston- Fire Burning. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Oven!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sean Kingston!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oven lands with a cross.
Kingston shoots in and drives through. Oven sprawls well.
Kingston misses with a wild combination.
Kingston tries to bum rush Oven with a series of wild strikes but Oven uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kingston tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kingston tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Oven paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kingston tries to clinch but Oven is having none of it.
Oven keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Oven walks into a straight right hand from Kingston.
Kingston throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kingston wants to clinch.
Kingston tries to clinch up.

Kingston shoots in and gets a takedown into Oven's guard.

Oven avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kingston advances to half guard.
Oven desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Oven keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Oven is looking for a sweep. Kingston is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kingston trying to control from Oven's half guard. Oven has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Kingston postures up in Oven's guard and throws a big left but Oven blocks it.
Oven preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Kingston throws an elbow that misses. Oven uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kingston's guard. Nice move by Oven!

Oven trying to control but Kingston is working from the bottom.
Kingston wants to stand but Oven is controlling the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kingston looks for the body kick but Oven saw that one coming.

Kingston's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Oven connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kingston scrambles back to his feet.
Kingston tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Oven manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kingston darts in trying to clinch
and Oven connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kingston tries to clinch up but Oven circles away and keeps his distance.
Kingston throws a hook to the side of Oven's head but Oven sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sean Kingston dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Kingston is looking to clinch but Oven is avoiding it.
Kingston looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kingston tries to clinch but Oven moves out of range.
Kingston closes the distance but Oven moves to the side
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oven scores with a jab. Kingston acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Oven throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Kingston shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Oven as he avoids it easily.
Oven ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

and Oven counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kingston thinking.
Kingston moves forwards but Oven connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Sean Kingston is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Oven decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kingston's guard.
Oven in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Kingston is looking to sweep but instead, Oven has passed into half guard.
Oven wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kingston keeps working.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Kingston looks like he's trying to stand up.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Oven seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kingston for as long as he can get away with.

George Oven has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Kingston throws a leg kick
and Oven counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Oven scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Kingston throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Oven tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kingston is in Oven's guard.

Kingston keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Oven's head.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kingston accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kingston missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Oven wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Kingston is now in half guard.
Oven has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kingston is working away from the top position though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kingston seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

A close second round but Sean Kingston will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Kingston looks to land a left hand but Oven moved out of range nicely.

Kingston comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Kingston misses with the combination.
Kingston tries to close the distance and clinch up but Oven swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Kingston throws a left and a right that both miss
and Oven counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Sean Kingston seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Oven seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kingston does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
George Oven has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Oven connects with a right hand. Kingston shakes it off.


It looks like Sean Kingston has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

George Oven showed his dominance in that final round.
