And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shouse lands with a nice combination. Brooks backs away looking to recover.
Brooks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nice takedown defense from Brooks. No joy for Shouse on that attempt.

Brooks shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Brooks was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Shouse manages to work his way to half guard, despite Brooks's best efforts.
Shouse is looking to escape.
Brooks has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Brooks wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Brooks prevents Shouse from getting the reversal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brooks takes Shouse 's back.

Brooks is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Shouse is defending well though. Brooks let's go of the attempt for now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brooks is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Shouse has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Brooks has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Shouse taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Brooks doesn't care though - he's delighted!
