PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Titik Bulinaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kahwaah Jeeri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bulinaw's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, I've Never Felt This Way. Titik Bulinaw has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Titik Bulinaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kahwaah Jeeri!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jeeri shoots in looking for a takedown. Bulinaw tries to sprawl out of it but Jeeri keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bulinaw manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jeeri stuffs the takedown attempt from Bulinaw. Bulinaw gets slowly back to his feet.
Jeeri throws a left and a right that both miss
and Bulinaw counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bulinaw stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bulinaw wants it to stay on the feet.
Jeeri misses with a takedown
and Bulinaw counters with a nice low kick that buckles Jeeri's knee momentarily.
Titik Bulinaw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kahwaah Jeeri.
Horrible takedown attempt by Jeeri or perhaps it was just good defense by Bulinaw, which made it look bad.
No luck for Jeeri with that takedown attempt.
Bulinaw defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jeeri.
Jeeri closes the distance and clinches up with Bulinaw, looking for a takedown. Jeeri pushes Bulinaw against the cage but Bulinaw circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jeeri shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bulinaw pinned against the cage. Bulinaw gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jeeri looks winded!

Jeeri on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Jeeri shoots in and bounces Bulinaw off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Bulinaw is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jeeri is controlling him.
Jeeri slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Bulinaw takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
An elbow from Jeeri crashes against the mat.
Bulinaw tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jeeri controls the position from side control.
It looks like Jeeri might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Jeeri thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Jeeri happy to just control the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jeeri works to advance to full mount. Bulinaw defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Bulinaw is wriggling around trying to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jeeri working for a submission but Bulinaw is keeping him at bay.
Jeeri thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kahwaah Jeeri dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Bulinaw gets tackled into the cage by Jeeri. Jeeri maintains the clinch.

Jeeri gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Jeeri trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Jeeri is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Jeeri looking to sit in guard and control but Bulinaw gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Bulinaw knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jeeri on the ground.

Jeeri has Bulinaw pulled in close to control his posture.

Jeeri manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Jeeri tries to score a body lock takedown but Bulinaw shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Bulinaw lands with a light punch inside.
Bulinaw is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Jeeri is keeping busy.

Bulinaw is fighting off a takedown attempt but Jeeri is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Bulinaw to the mat. Bulinaw regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Jeeri seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Jeeri engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Jeeri's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kahwaah Jeeri wasn't active enough on the ground.
Jeeri keeps the fight on the outside.

Jeeri is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bulinaw's half guard.
Jeeri is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Jeeri is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Jeeri seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Jeeri frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bulinaw is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kahwaah Jeeri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Jeeri shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bulinaw pinned against the cage. Bulinaw gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jeeri shoots in for a takedown but Bulinaw shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Titik Bulinaw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kahwaah Jeeri.

Jeeri decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Jeeri seems to be looking for submissions.

Jeeri is looking to take a break and control but Bulinaw is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Bulinaw won't allow Jeeri to pass to mount.

Jeeri is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Still in half guard, Jeeri seems content to control.

Jeeri thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bulinaw's head.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jeeri in particular looking to stall.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kahwaah Jeeri wasn't active enough on the ground.
Bulinaw stuffs the takedown.

Jeeri closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Bulinaw trying to remain calm as Jeeri controls from the top position.
Jeeri postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Jeeri working the ground and pound but Bulinaw is defending the strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kahwaah Jeeri comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Jeeri winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
