PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cirilo Galiei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Remy Broussard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Cirilo Galiei has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 33 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cirilo Galiei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Remy Broussard!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Broussard darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Broussard is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Broussard wants to work for an arm triangle but Galiei is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Broussard is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Broussard is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Galiei sees it coming and defends easily.

Galiei is defending against the submission attempts here by Broussard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Broussard uses his free foot to push down on Galiei's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Galiei.
Broussard sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Broussard stands up from mount. Strange move.
Galiei really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Broussard moves into the clinch.
Galiei tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Broussard's elbow.
Broussard wants a takedown.

Broussard has Galiei pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Broussard pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Galiei tumbling to the mat - Broussard dives into Galiei's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Broussard throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Broussard slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Galiei stops Broussard from passing to mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Broussard is trying to get an arm triangle but Galiei is defending well.
Broussard misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Broussard happy to just control the position for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Broussard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Galiei keeps working.

Broussard stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Broussard bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Broussard tries for a kimura but Galiei is defending well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Broussard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Galiei keeps working.
Galiei knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Broussard on the ground.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Broussard has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Broussard tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Remy Broussard dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Broussard forces Galiei back against the cage and clinches.
Galiei tries a body shot but Broussard blocks it.
Broussard has Galiei pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Galiei manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Broussard escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Galiei tries to clinch up

and Broussard counters with a single leg into guard. Galiei didn't expect that.
Galiei will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Broussard trying to control the position from guard on top but Galiei is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Remy Broussard has got the better of the ground game so far.

Broussard is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Broussard lands a couple of decent looking shots.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Broussard postures up and lands a big shot to Galiei's brow.
Broussard controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Broussard gets to his feet. Galiei looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Broussard shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Galiei as he avoids it easily.

Broussard has closed the distance and engaged Galiei in a clinch.

Broussard has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Galiei clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Galiei covering up well and avoiding damage.

Broussard working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Hilo inform us that Broussard has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

This has been an exciting period of action!
Galiei is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Broussard.
Broussard scores with punches to the body.
Galiei is trying to remain composed but Broussard is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

Broussard is persistently looking for the submission but Galiei is defending it well.

Broussard looking to break Galiei's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Galiei remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Broussard will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Broussard is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Broussard has his arm under Galiei's chin here. Game over son! Broussard squeezes tightly and Galiei is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Remy Broussard!
Our winner, Remy Broussard, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
