The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gill throws a head kick but Alexander moves out of range.

Gill forces Alexander back against the cage and clinches.

Alexander has Gill pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Alexander pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gill tumbling to the mat - Alexander dives into Gill's guard.
Alexander postures up in Gill's guard and throws a big left but Gill blocks it.
Alexander is fighting to break Gill's control of his arms but Gill is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Gill manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alexander manages to get himself to full guard.

Gill wants to control from the top but Alexander keeps moving.

Alexander knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gill on the ground.
Gill is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Alexander can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Gill can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Alexander is looking to escape.
