PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Justin Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocco Urso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fox kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is 2nd Round KO. Urso has chosen Big Ten Inch as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Urso uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Fox.
Rocco Urso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fox blocks a head kick by Urso.
Urso keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Fox looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Fox trying to control but Urso is working from the bottom.
Fox postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Urso is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Fox drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Urso dives on top into guard.

Urso with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Urso stands up from mount. Strange move.
Urso has his takedown stuffed

so Fox counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Fox passes Urso's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fox not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

A close round but Rocco Urso will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Urso has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fox is working away from the top position though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Urso misses with a head kick.
Urso is looking to clinch but Fox is avoiding it.
Fox swats away the attempt to clinch by Urso.

Fox feints and as Urso raises his hands in defense, Fox changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The fight stays on the outside here - Fox looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That was a close second round but I would say that Justin Fox will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Fox shoots for a double leg takedown but Urso sprawls well. He's pushed Fox's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The fighters circling - Fox throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Rocco Urso is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

so Fox counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Urso escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fox gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Urso takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Fox avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Justin Fox overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fox drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fox jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fox is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Urso is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Urso misses with an attempted mid kick.
Urso throws a sloppy head kick and Fox moves out of range easily.
Urso throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Horrible takedown by Fox or perhaps it was just good defense by Urso which made him look bad.

Fox loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Urso is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
