The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maynard shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Maynard showed some decent athleticism there.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Smith slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Maynard could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Maynard throws a big elbow that misses.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth.
Maynard wants to get up but he can't break Smith's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We're going to have a standup here because Agustin Maynard wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Smith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Maynard is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Smith tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Maynard.

Smith has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Maynard defend it? Smith steps over the head and cranks it - Maynard is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Smith!
