Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alden West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Shaults (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dan Shaults will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dan Shaults!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shaults has West up against the cage in a clinch.
Shaults tries to pull guard but West won't allow it.
West avoiding damage.
Shaults wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but West has him pressed against the cage.

Shaults's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Shaults throws a series of punches but West avoids them all with ease.

Shaults moves into the clinch successfully.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Shaults wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Shaults tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and West avoids it.
West stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
West tries a knee to the head but Shaults blocks it.
Shaults tries to pull guard but West holds him up against the cage and eventually Shaults drops back down to his feet.

West escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

West moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Shaults gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Shaults pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

West really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Shaults throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and West moves into the clinch.

West has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Shaults uses from the top position.

West will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shaults is defended easily by West.

West has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Shaults regains guard immediately.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alden West.
I think West has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
