PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Ignatiev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Vegas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dennis Ignatiev had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dennis Ignatiev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Vegas!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vegas tries to clinch there but Ignatiev circles away.
Ignatiev definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Vegas will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Ignatiev shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vegas as he jumps to the side.

Ignatiev feints and as Vegas raises his hands in defense, Ignatiev changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Vegas wants to stand but Ignatiev is controlling the position.
Vegas throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Vegas controls Ignatiev momentarily but Ignatiev frees himself.
Ignatiev might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Vegas might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ignatiev haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Ignatiev has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Vegas throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Ignatiev loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vegas controls Ignatiev momentarily but Ignatiev frees himself.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Johnny Vegas hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Ignatiev decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ignatiev wants to pass the guard but Vegas is defending well.

Ignatiev stalling away here and it's allowed Vegas to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Vegas not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ignatiev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vegas on the ground.

Ignatiev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Vegas trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Ignatiev looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Ignatiev seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Vegas for as long as he can get away with.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ignatiev scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Vegas is looking to reverse the position.
Vegas is trying to control Ignatiev's posture but Ignatiev avoids it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ignatiev lands a nice forearm strike.
Vegas wants to control but Ignatiev postures up.
Vegas is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ignatiev lands a strong strike to the head of Vegas. That's dazed him! Ignatiev looking to finish here. Vegas is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Ignatiev lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dennis Ignatiev!
