Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cyrus Peters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Felix Trinidad!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trinidad tries to clinch but Peters is having none of it.
Peters blocks the body kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Peters is trying to force a seperation but Trinidad has the dominant position.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Trinidad.
Trinidad misses with a short punch on the inside.

Peters breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Trinidad displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Peters.
Trinidad tries to clinch but Peters is having none of it.
Peters circles away from the clinch attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Peters looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Trinidad tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Peters paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Trinidad has closed the distance and engaged Peters in a clinch.
Trinidad tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Peters just stands there and leans against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Trinidad tries to pull guard but Peters forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Peters is trying to pull guard but Trinidad turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Trinidad swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Trinidad is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Trinidad pushes Peters back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Peters tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Trinidad just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cyrus Peters. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Peters jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Trinidad walks away with a smile on his face. Peters gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Trinidad takes the fight into the clinch.
Trinidad prevents Peters from breaking the clinch.
Trinidad misses with a punch on the inside.
Peters is trying to break free.
Trinidad misses with a short punch on the inside.
Trinidad lands with a light punch inside.
Trinidad lands a left hand that snaps the head of Peters backwards.

Peters has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Trinidad uses from the top position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Peters working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Trinidad.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Trinidad throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Trinidad is looking to work some ground and pound but Peters has wrist control.

Trinidad decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Peters, up you get!
Felix Trinidad seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Trinidad lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


Peters is rocked!


It looks like Cyrus Peters has been cut.
Peters is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Oh Peters is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Trinidad swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Peters fails with the takedown
and Trinidad counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Peters off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Trinidad follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Peters was out before he hit the floor.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Felix Trinidad!
Felix Trinidad got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
