Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leopoldo Hewitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Spielman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott Spielman will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spielman closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hewitt quickly recovers to half guard.
Hewitt pushes Spielman off looking to stand but Spielman dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hewitt looking for submissions off his back.
Spielman throwing shots but Hewitt is blocking nicely.
Hewitt wants to get back to his feet.
Spielman takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hewitt wants to get back to his feet.
Hewitt trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Spielman is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Spielman decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The ground and pound from Hewitt seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Hewitt creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Hewitt is looking to take a break and control but Spielman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That was a close round but I would say that Leopoldo Hewitt will probably get the nod.

Hewitt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hewitt is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Spielman defends well.
Spielman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Hewitt is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Spielman is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Hewitt is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Spielman lands a couple of elbows.
Hewitt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Hewitt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Spielman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Let's hope that Spielman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Spielman is looking to advance position but Hewitt won't allow it.
Hewitt wants to control but Spielman is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
