PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carl Cade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Snake Shadow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shadow has chosen Snake in the Eagles Shadow as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carl Cade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Snake Shadow!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shadow is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cade.
Cade takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Shadow misses the shot to the body.
Cade throws a hook to the side of Shadow's head but Shadow sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
The fighters circling - Cade throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Cade misses with a jab, cross combination.
Shadow swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Cade.

Cade gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Shadow turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Shadow manages to end up in side control.
You can see the frustration on Cade's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shadow wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cade keeps working.

Shadow tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shadow has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shadow in side control, throwing shots but Cade defends.
Cade is looking to regain half guard here but Shadow keeps moving and retains side control.
Shadow working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Cade gets back to half guard.
Shadow throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Cade is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cade has hold of Shadow's hands but Shadow slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Shadow controlling the action here.
Shadow wants to take a breather but Cade is having none of it.
Shadow throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Cade is not content to let Shadow control the position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Cade wants to stand back up but Shadow manages to pass into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shadow working away.
Cade takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Shadow trying to control the action but Cade is working from the bottom.
Cade tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Shadow scores with a couple of short elbows.
Shadow takes a little break here. Cade wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Shadow wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cade keeps working.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cade is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Shadow's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Cade is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Shadow pulls his head out easily.
Cade definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Shadow lands a nice short elbow.
Cade wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Snake Shadow dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Shadow falls off balance throwing a combination
and Cade counters with a stiff right hand.
Shadow tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cade was well out of range. Poor timing from Shadow.
Shadow throws a leg kick
and Cade counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Cade throws a hook to the side of Shadow's head but Shadow sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Carl Cade is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Shadow feints and as Cade raises his hands in defense, Shadow changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Shadow has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Shadow trying to control but Cade is working from the bottom.
Shadow works a leg free and moves into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shadow slows the pace down in half guard.
Shadow missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Shadow tries to pass to full mount but Cade defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cade works his way to full guard. Good work.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Shadow's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Cade is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shadow is aware though and is defending well.
Cade keeping moving, preventing Shadow from controlling successfully.
Shadow looking to pass the guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cade manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Shadow manages to get himself to full guard.

Shadow working a defensive guard but Cade manages to pass into side control anyway.
Shadow is looking for a sweep.

Cade is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Shadow has escaped the position, nice work there.
Cade sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Shadow is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Cade wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shadow, who protects the arm well.
Cade wants to control but Shadow is keeping him busy.
Shadow manages to get back to half guard.
Shadow desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Snake Shadow has got the better of the ground game so far.

Cade is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Shadow doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cade.
Cade trying to advance position but Shadow counters by regaining guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cade trying to control but Shadow is working from the bottom.
Shadow keeping full guard, as Cade tries to pass.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cade gets to his feet - Shadow follows without any prompting.
Shadow displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cade throws out the jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carl Cade dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Shadow stuns Cade with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Snake Shadow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice uppercut there from Cade.
Shadow throws a hook but Cade avoids it easily.
Shadow swings for the body but Cade moves out of range.
Shadow throws a looping overhand right but Cade ducks down to avoid it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shadow. Cade does a little dance to reset his feet.
Shadow takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Cade doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shadow bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shadow wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cade keeps working.
Shadow wants to control for a moment but Cade uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Shadow is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cade is just riding it out for now. Shadow eventually gives up the hold.
Shadow is trying to control the action in half guard but Cade is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Shadow prevents Cade from improving his position.
Shadow wants to control but Cade is keeping him busy.
Cade is looking for a sweep. Shadow is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Shadow is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cade is just riding it out for now. Shadow eventually gives up the hold.
Shadow is keen to just control but Cade is a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Shadow's coach down at Boomerang!! was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Shadow's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Cade misses with a straight left.
Nice uppercut lands for Cade. That snapped Shadow's head back.
Shadow shoots in for a double leg but Cade sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Shadow connects with a looping right hand.
Cade moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Carl Cade is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Shadow dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Shadow throws a leg kick that is checked
letting Cade counter with a right hand.

Cade clinches with his opponent.
Cade goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Cade breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Shadow lands with a straight right. Cade didn't see that one coming.
Shadow shoots in for a double leg but Cade sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cade staying out of range there.
Cade throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Shadow counters with a stiff right hand.
Shadow tries a low kick but Cade avoids it.
Shadow misses the shot to the body.
Cade throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shadow tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cade was well out of range. Poor timing from Shadow.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Shadow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Snake Shadow comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Shadow has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
