The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Costa dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Nice defenses there by Whitaker.
Costa misses the jab.
Whitaker shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Costa cracks a nice hook into Whitaker's ribs.

and Whitaker counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

and Whitaker counters with a head kick. That will keep Costa thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Oh, that's a big right hand from Costa and Whitaker goes tumbling to the canvas! Costa follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.

It looks like Dalton Whitaker has been cut.
Costa is pressing down on Whitaker's thigh, looking to free his foot. Whitaker is holding on for now.

Costa escapes and gets back to his feet.

Costa grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Whitaker takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Costa cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

Angelo Costa decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
