Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Boof Bitzer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and MSgt Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MSgt Griffin acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Boof Bitzer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, MSgt Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Kavanagh and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bitzer's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Bitzer duly obliges.
Griffin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bitzer shoots in but Griffin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
MSgt Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bitzer is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Griffin's half guard.
Bitzer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Bitzer wants to free his trapped foot but Griffin is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Bitzer is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Bitzer uses his free foot to push down on Griffin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Griffin.

Griffin blocking the ground and pound.
Griffin tries to reverse the position but Bitzer maintains control.
Bitzer sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Griffin tries to hold on but Bitzer pushes him away.
Bitzer throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Bitzer misses with a head shot.
Bitzer unloads with some shots from mount but Griffin bucks and avoids them well.
Griffin slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bitzer frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Griffin felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Bitzer throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Bitzer looking to control but Griffin is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Bitzer swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Griffin is now in Bitzer's guard. A big mistake from Bitzer there, giving up the dominant position!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Griffin postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bitzer wants to sweep here but Griffin controlling him for the moment.

Bitzer looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Griffin has picked Bitzer up and slammed him! Bitzer can't keep hold of the triangle and Griffin manages to pass to side control!
Bitzer is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Griffin wants to control for a moment but Bitzer uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Griffin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bitzer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The fighters are battling for position here. Bitzer manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Bitzer utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Bitzer looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Griffin working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Griffin throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Griffin scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Griffin postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Griffin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Griffin with a flurry of punches that miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Boof Bitzer will probably get the nod.
That's time! Bitzer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Bitzer counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Griffin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bitzer works his way into side control.

Bitzer is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Griffin has escaped the position, nice work there.
Griffin regains half guard there - taking advantage of Bitzer's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Bitzer is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Griffin has managed to free his arm - good work.

Bitzer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Bitzer is working for a kimura but Griffin is defending it quite comfortably.
Boof Bitzer overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Griffin tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Bitzer sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Griffin defending well though.
Griffin is controlling Bitzer's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Griffin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Bitzer could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Bitzer is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Griffin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bitzer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bitzer's back!
Griffin is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Bitzer. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Bitzer turns into Griffin and is now in his guard.
Bitzer wants to control from the top but Griffin keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bitzer stands and throws Griffin's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Bitzer is looking to take a break and control but Griffin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bitzer throws an elbow but Griffin slips to the side and avoids it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boof Bitzer dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Bitzer tries to score a power double leg takedown but Griffin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bitzer somewhat.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Boof Bitzer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bitzer moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Griffin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bitzer tries to avoid it but Griffin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bitzer to the ground. Bitzer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bitzer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Griffin but Griffin pushes him off and we're back to square one.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bitzer wants to stand up but Griffin is controlling him.

Griffin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Griffin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Bitzer's head.

Bitzer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Griffin's guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Griffin lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Griffin keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bitzer's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Griffin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

And that's the end of the fight!
MSgt Griffin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Bitzer has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
