Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carlton Oneill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Hastings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Hastings will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carlton Oneill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Hastings!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oneill shoots in and drives through. Hastings sprawls well.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Oneill enables Hastings to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Oneill manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Hastings looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Hastings trying to control but Oneill is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mike Hastings was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Hastings content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Oneill throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Oneill is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Hastings landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

Oneill tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hastings wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Oneill tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Oneill throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hastings wants to control but Oneill is keeping him busy.

Hastings misses with the ground and pound.
Oneill regains half guard there - taking advantage of Hastings's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Hastings looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Oneill tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Hastings wants to free his trapped foot but Oneill is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Hastings stalling away here and it's allowed Oneill to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hastings postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Hastings darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Hastings thows a huge punch but Oneill dodges it nicely.

Oneill makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Oneill.
Hastings wants to control from the top but Oneill keeps moving.

Hastings might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Oneill haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mike Hastings was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Oneill tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Hastings closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Oneill did well to prevent Hastings getting side control.
Hastings perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hastings is trying to control the action in half guard but Oneill is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hastings not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Hastings keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Hastings darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hastings throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Oneill to regain full guard.

Hastings trying to control but Oneill is working from the bottom.
Oneill can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hastings controls the pace.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Oneill keeping moving, preventing Hastings from controlling successfully.

Mike Hastings has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Hastings rushes Oneill and presses him up against the cage.

Hastings keeps control of Oneill as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Oneill is trying to break free.
Hastings works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Hastings has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Oneill is trying to keep an underhook but Hastings manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Mike Hastings showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Horrible takedown attempt by Oneill or perhaps it was just good defense by Hastings, which made it look bad.

Hastings shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hastings was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hastings looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Oneill is avoiding damage well.
Hastings wants to control but Oneill is keeping him busy.
Oneill is trying to buck Hastings off.

Oneill seems a little lost for a moment, as Hastings dominates the positioning.
Hastings misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Oneill is not content to let Hastings control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mike Hastings.

Hastings throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Oneill was covering up waiting for the punch and Hastings finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Oneill lands some strikes from the bottom.
Hastings trying to control but Oneill is working from the bottom.
Oneill throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Oneill is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Hastings has gone for a leg lock! Oneill slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hastings's guard.
Oneill throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hastings works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Oneill's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Oneill controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Oneill looking to sit in guard and control but Hastings gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Oneill being controlled here, momentarily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mike Hastings comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hastings has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
