Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chris Cherry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chiun Remo!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Viktor Lagutenko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Remo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cherry tries to avoid it but Remo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cherry to the ground. Cherry escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cherry wants to clinch.

Remo clinches with his opponent.
Remo is working for takedown but Cherry is calmly controlling the position for now.
Cherry lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Cherry lands an elbow inside that Remo shrugs off.


It looks like Chiun Remo has been cut.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Remo is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Cherry here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!



Remo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cherry to the mat! Cherry manages to get full guard.
Remo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Remo stands up and beckons Cherry to his feet.
Chris Cherry is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Remo counters with a body kick that stops Cherry in his tracks momentarily.

Cherry tries to sprawl but Remo drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Remo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cherry trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Cherry wants to sweep here but Remo controlling him for the moment.
Remo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Remo is pushing down on Cherry's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cherry is fighting to maintain full guard but Remo has managed to sneak the leg through.
Remo takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Remo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cherry keeps working.

Cherry looking for submissions off his back.
Remo looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Remo maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Cherry could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Remo has cracked it and Cherry is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Remo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Chiun Remo!
Chiun Remo decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
