PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dexter Rutecki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ike Clanton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rutecki comes to the cage accompanied by Remember the Name. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutecki is looking to clinch but Clanton is avoiding it.

Clanton has control of Rutecki's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rutecki regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The referee warns Rutecki that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Clanton closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rutecki to the mat! Rutecki manages to get full guard.

Clanton chips away with some ground and pound.
Clanton has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Clanton throws and elbow that misses. Rutecki uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Clanton's guard. Nice move by Rutecki!

Rutecki is looking to stand up but Clanton won't let him.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Clanton is on top in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Clanton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Rutecki closes the distance and clinches.
Rutecki lands an elbow inside that Clanton shrugs off.
Rutecki misses with a knee to the head.
Rutecki keeps control of Clanton as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Clanton stalls.
Rutecki wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Clanton has him pressed against the cage.
Clanton jumps guard but Rutecki stands there with Clanton around his waist. Clanton gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Rutecki breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Clanton stalks Rutecki and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rutecki's face. Rutecki staggers backwards, shaken.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ike Clanton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Rutecki clinches up against the cage.

Rutecki unloads a knee to the mid-section. Clanton lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Clanton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rutecki swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rutecki wanted to stand there but Clanton had control of the position.

Clanton has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Rutecki should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Clanton has tightened it up now! Rutecki should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
