Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hercules Ferreira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cheech Marin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cheech Marin!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferreira doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Marin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Marin working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Marin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Marin trying to control the position from guard on top but Ferreira is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ferreira working for a triangle but Marin defends it easily.
Ferreira working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Ferreira is tightening it up a little... Marin has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Marin reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Marin taps out! Nice BJJ there by Ferreira!
