PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brad Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tren Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tren Brooks was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Brad Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tren Brooks!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Phil Schofield and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Brooks counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Brooks.

Brooks manages to break the clinch.

Brooks changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Adams looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Adams manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Adams throwing shots but Brooks is blocking nicely.

Adams is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Adams throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Adams with the ground and pound but Brooks uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Adams avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Brooks is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Brooks takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Brooks closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Adams's guard.

Adams working a defensive guard but Brooks manages to pass into side control anyway.
Adams is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Brooks is controlling him well.
Brooks is putting a hurting on Adams here, landing some big shots from side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Adams is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Brooks has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Adams takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Adams gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Adams is breathing heavily.
Brooks takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Adams is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Brooks prevents Adams from improving his position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Brooks is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Brooks slows the pace down in half guard.

Adams has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Brooks is on him like a limpet, forcing Adams back against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Brooks pulls guard effortlessly.
Adams with a flurry of punches that miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tren Brooks dominated that round.

Brooks instigates a clinch.
Adams tries to pull guard but Brooks holds him up against the cage and eventually Adams drops back down to his feet.

Brooks manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Brooks. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Brooks has control of Adams's left arm, preventing Adams from doing any damage.

Brooks had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Adams defends it easily.
Adams works over Brooks with some ground and pound from guard.

Adams postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Brooks is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Adams, into his guard.
Adams wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Brooks is now in half guard.

Adams tries to kick Brooks off but Brooks keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Brooks moves into full mount! Adams won't be happy about that!
The referee warns Adams that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Brooks cracks Adams with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Tren Brooks has got the better of the ground game so far.

Brooks gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Adams goes for a double leg but Brooks avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Brooks continues to drive forward.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Brooks gets control of Adams's arms and successfully pulls guard. Brooks will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Tren Brooks hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tren Brooks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Brooks throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Adams was covering up waiting for the punch and Brooks finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Adams has one foot on Brooks's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Brooks takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Brooks throws out a loose jab but Adams uses good head movement to avoid it.

Brooks shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Adams is trying to defend but Brooks finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Adams has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Brooks escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Brooks!

Brooks is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Adams is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Adams tries to buck Brooks off but Brooks is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Adams is having to fend off submission attempts from Brooks, who is looking to sink in the choke. Brooks doesn't have the hooks in though and Adams manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
Brooks is pulling down on Adams's head. It's preventing any offense from Adams, at least for the moment.

Brooks is trying to control the position but Adams postures up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Tren Brooks has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Adams looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Brooks is fending him off so far but Adams persists. Nope, Brooks circles away and we're back to standing.
Adams tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Brooks defends well and Adams ends up having to push Brooks into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Brooks has clasped his hands together around Adams's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well Brooks has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
