Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dominic Whitney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Savage Kumquat!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Whitney misses.
Whitney takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.


It looks like Dominic Whitney has been cut.

Kumquat feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Whitney could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Kumquat manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Whitney accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kumquat has control of Whitney's left arm, preventing Whitney from doing any damage.

Kumquat is looking for a triangle but Whitney pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kumquat is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kumquat seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Whitney is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kumquat is controlling him.

Whitney throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kumquat sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Whitney throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kumquat looks to land a combination but Whitney avoids it well.
Kumquat moves away from the strike by Whitney.

Whitney misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kumquat.
Kumquat is pressed up against the cage. Whitney has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kumquat down to the mat. Kumquat avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Kumquat fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Whitney to the ground. Kumquat is now in Whitney's guard.
Whitney is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kumquat not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Kumquat is standing up over Whitney. Whitney looks to escape but Kumquat dives into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kumquat working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Kumquat is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Whitney will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Whitney wants to get back to his feet but Kumquat is dominant here and he's now got Whitney's back!
Kumquat controlling the position well here. Whitney rolled but Kumquat kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kumquat has got one arm under Whitney's chin. This could be trouble... Whitney trying to control the other hand but Kumquat gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Whitney has tapped out! The fight is over!
