The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gaffney connects with a leg kick. Ali looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Ali connects with a crisp jab.
Gaffney falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ali counters with a crisp one two that drops Gaffney! Ali thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Gaffney to his feet! Gaffney is in big trouble!
Gaffney is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gaffney throws an overhand right that lands on Ali's shoulder, as Ali tries to avoid the shot.
Gaffney is still on wobbly legs! Can Ali finish him?
Gaffney throws a right hand that Ali ducks under and follows up with a left that Ali also avoids with ease.
Gaffney shoots for a double leg takedown but Ali sprawls well. He's pushed Gaffney's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gaffney glances at the clock... BAM! Ali nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Gaffney crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Gaffney is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Monty Ali!
