PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Will Sabu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carney Duffy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duffy has chosen Brawl - Bloody spit as his entrance music. Carney Duffy will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Will Sabu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Carney Duffy!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duffy dips to his left and cracks Sabu with an uppercut!
Sabu closes the distance and clinches up with Duffy, looking for a takedown. Sabu pushes Duffy against the cage but Duffy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Duffy stuffs the takedown.
Sabu darts in looking for a takedown but Duffy gets double underhooks and turns Sabu into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Will Sabu. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Duffy has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Sabu is working for takedown but Duffy is calmly controlling the position for now.
Sabu has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Duffy after a bit of a struggle.
Duffy is trying to break free.
A frustrated look appears on Duffy's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Sabu prevents Duffy from breaking the clinch.
Sabu could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sabu can't get the takedown.
Duffy is trying to force a seperation but Sabu has the dominant position.

Sabu has Duffy pressed against the cage, preventing Duffy from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Duffy wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Duffy is trying to break the clinch but Sabu is controlling him.

Duffy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sabu shoots in for a double leg but Duffy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sabu looks for a takedown but Duffy sprawls well.
Duffy throws a head kick that half lands.
Duffy lands with a hook. Sabu tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Sloppy strikes from Duffy. Those never looked like landing.
Sabu takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Sabu shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Duffy looks like he's trying to stand up.

Sabu seems to be looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Duffy is pushing off trying to get to his feet. Sabu has hold of the leg though and he's dropped back for a heel hook… has he got it?? YES! Duffy is tapping! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). Will Sabu!
A relieved looking Will Sabu thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
In defeat, Carney Duffy stepped up to the mic, saying 'I havent done anything like i should.. For now i go back in The Holding Cell gym to train. Next fight will not be a soon, but then im gonna make statement!'.
