And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Murphy!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Kavanagh and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy tries to clinch up.
Armstrong connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Murphy's hands.


It looks like Joe Murphy has been cut.
Murphy is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Murphy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Armstrong was well out of range. Poor timing from Murphy.
Armstrong keeps the fight on the outside.
Armstrong circles away from the clinch attempt.

Murphy instigates a clinch.
Murphy misses with the head strike.
A shot in the inside from Murphy.
Murphy throws a punch but it's blocked by Armstrong.
Murphy lands on the inside with an uppercut.


It looks like Hank Armstrong has been cut.
Murphy misses with a hook from the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Murphy fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Murphy scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Armstrong is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Armstrong.
Armstrong is looking to break free of the clinch but Murphy has double underhooks.
Murphy softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.

Murphy drops Armstrong onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Armstrong is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!


Armstrong is rocked!
Murphy misses with a hook from the clinch.
Oh Armstrong is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Murphy misses with a short punch on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from Murphy fails to land.
Armstrong misses with a punch to the body.
Murphy has a couple of punches blocked by Armstrong.
Murphy throws a punch but it's blocked by Armstrong.
Murphy swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Murphy misses with some punches.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Murphy.
Murphy tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Armstrong seems to have got his legs back now.
Murphy lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Armstrong wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Murphy dips a shoulder and cracks Armstrong with a mighty uppercut! Armstrong falls back against the cage and Murphy unloads with a barrage of strikes! Armstrong is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Murphy screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Murphy!
Joe Murphy decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
The defeated Hank Armstrong had this to say: 'I hope I gave the fans a good performance even though I lost. It just wasn't my night but I'm still alive and if my opponent let's me have another go at him I promise to kill him in the rematch.'.
