These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josef Dellal!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cedric Mabuva!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mabuva misses with a hook.
Mabuva's coach down at VENDETTA Elite Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Mabuva's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Dellal avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Cedric Mabuva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dellal looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mabuva is fending him off so far but Dellal persists. Nope, Mabuva circles away and we're back to standing.
Mabuva stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mabuva wants it to stay on the feet.
Mabuva throws a lazy uppercut

and Dellal counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Dellal is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mabuva trying to control but Dellal postures up.
Dellal works his way into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mabuva can do anything to dispel that myth.
Mabuva is letting Dellal control him for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dellal tries to advance to mount but can't.
Dellal is staying tight to Mabuva's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Mabuva is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The referee asks Dellal politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Dellal prefers to stall for the moment though.
Mabuva wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dellal tries to move into full mount but can't pass Mabuva's legs.
Mabuva is not content to let Dellal control the position.
Mabuva prevents Dellal from improving position.

Dellal is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Mabuva is trying to escape and Dellal transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Mabuva is forced to tap! Nice work there by Dellal! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Josef Dellal!
Josef Dellal retains his super heavyweight title!
