Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between gegard mousasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Kickass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). mousasi comes into the arena with Hi-Gate- Pitchin blaring out of the sound system. Kickass has chosen Cormega - Get out my way as his entrance music. gegard mousasi has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, gegard mousasi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Kickass!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Eddie Farnsworth and Bruno Lombardi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
mousasi shoots in looking for a takedown. Kickass tries to sprawl out of it but mousasi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kickass manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice sprawl there from Kickass as mousasi shoots in.
Kickass throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

mousasi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - mousasi lands in his opponent's guard.

mousasi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and mousasi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kickass looking for a sweep. Not yet Kickass, not yet.
Kickass lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for mousasi!

Kickass's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kickass pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Kickass controlling the pace for now.
mousasi tries to lock up and control but Kickass gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kickass tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Joe Kickass just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kickass throws a low kick but it's checked well by mousasi.
Joe Kickass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kickass misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kickass throws a combination. mousasi tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

It looks like gegard mousasi has been cut.
mousasi shoots for a double leg takedown but Kickass sprawls well. He's pushed mousasi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for gegard mousasi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A head kick misses from mousasi.
mousasi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kickass pinned against the cage. Kickass gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

mousasi swats away the attempt to clinch by Kickass.
Kickass just misses with a punch to the body.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kickass moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
mousasi is breathing heavily.

Kickass utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's time! mousasi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Kickass throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from mousasi.
Kickass misses with a hook.
mousasi misses with a wild combination.
Kickass lands a right hook to the body.
Kickass lands a with a good body shot.
Kickass fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kickass takes a swing at mousasi's ribcage but misses.
Kickass fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kickass throws a leg kick but mousasi sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Kickass dips to his left and cracks mousasi with an uppercut!
Kickass stuns mousasi with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Kickass tries to close the distance and clinch up but mousasi swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kickass lands a nice hook to mousasi's body. mousasi takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

mousasi keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

gegard mousasi's cut is getting worse.
mousasi takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kickass scores with a hook to the body. mousasi takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kickass just misses with a punch to the body.
Kickass tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
mousasi uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kickass.
Kickass misses with a low kick.

Kickass closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kickass perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Let's hope that Kickass has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
mousasi wants to get back to full guard.

mousasi trying to hold on to Kickass's head to control him but Kickass postures up.

Kickass is trying to work for a kimura but mousasi is defending well.
Kickass is taking a breather. mousasi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
mousasi regains half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Kickass showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

mousasi throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Kickass has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

gegard mousasi's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Kickass is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Kickass must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

mousasi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kickass gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

mousasi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
mousasi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kickass counters with a left to the body.
mousasi takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

and mousasi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kickass moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kickass holds on and takes a little breather.

Kickass bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in mousasi's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
mousasi can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kickass controls the pace.

gegard mousasi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
mousasi tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kickass is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well Kickass has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
