The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Washington sprawls well initially but Rua persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Washington tries to get to full guard but Rua has control of the leg.

Washington looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rua is one step ahead there.
Washington lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
