PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Schicke Diddis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bj Mayhem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diddis kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Last of the Mohicans - Promentory . Bj Mayhem has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Schicke Diddis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bj Mayhem!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayhem defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Diddis.
Diddis circles away from the clinch attempt.

Mayhem shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mayhem showed some decent athleticism there.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Mayhem blocks the strikes from Diddis.
Diddis keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Diddis tries to get to full guard but Mayhem has control of the leg.
Mayhem wants to control but Diddis is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diddis avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Mayhem.
Diddis has hold of Mayhem's hands but Mayhem slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Diddis is squirming around, avoiding Mayhem's attempts to control the action.
Mayhem has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mayhem has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Diddis has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Diddis rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Mayhem lands with a punch from half guard.
Diddis wants to improve his position but Mayhem is controlling well.
Mayhem is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mayhem lands a nice short elbow.

Diddis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

It looks like Mayhem might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Diddis blocks a head kick by Mayhem.

Mayhem throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Diddis tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mayhem is in Diddis's guard.
Mayhem wants to control from the top but Diddis keeps moving.

Diddis has a closed guard, preventing Mayhem from standing up.

Diddis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mayhem can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mayhem in particular looking to stall.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Diddis is not content to let Mayhem control the position.

Diddis is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Mayhem is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Mayhem has escaped and now he's on top!

Diddis has his foot on Mayhem's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mayhem works his way back into a safe position though.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mayhem connects with a nice short shot to Diddis's temple.

Mayhem has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Diddis's face.

Mayhem can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Diddis is looking to escape.

Mayhem has hold of Diddis's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Diddis manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Schicke Diddis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bj Mayhem is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mayhem takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Bj Mayhem comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mayhem has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
