Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renan Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roger Howlingate!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howlingate misses with a two punch combination.
Gracie dodges the punch combination from Howlingate.
Howlingate misses with the combination.

Gracie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Howlingate sprawls well initially but Gracie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Howlingate won't allow Gracie to pass to mount.
Gracie works his way into side control.
Howlingate trying to remain calm as Gracie controls from the top position.

Gracie thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Gracie wants to control but Howlingate is keeping him busy.

Gracie in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Howlingate is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Gracie is controlling him well.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Gracie works to advance to full mount. Howlingate defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gracie throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Howlingate can do anything to dispel that myth.

Howlingate defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Gracie.

Gracie is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Howlingate can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Gracie sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Howlingate is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Gracie darts in looking for a takedown but Howlingate gets double underhooks and turns Gracie into the ropes.
Gracie jumps guard but Howlingate stands there with Gracie around his waist. Gracie gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gracie seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Howlingate gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gracie seems keen to control Howlingate's posture.
Gracie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Gracie looking for a sweep. Not yet Gracie, not yet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Howlingate sprawls well. Howlingate wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet.
Renan Gracie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Howlingate wobbles Gracie with a right hand and the left hook that follows puts him on his rear! Howlingate dives in with a huge flying punch that connects right on the button and puts Gracie to sleep! - What a violent and spectacular finish!
