PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dea Fbi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edwards has chosen Hello Zepp as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dea Fbi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Justin Edwards!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edwards tries for a takedown but Fbi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Edwards looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Fbi looking for submissions off his back.
Edwards wants to stand but Fbi has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Fbi is controlling Edwards's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Edwards tries to stand but can't do so whilst Fbi controls his leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fbi has a closed guard, preventing Edwards from standing up.

Edwards is looking to advance position but Fbi won't allow it.
Edwards seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fbi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Edwards wants to work for an arm triangle but Fbi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Fbi wants to get back to full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Fbi misses with an uppercut. Edwards saw that one coming.
Edwards dodges the punch combination from Fbi.
Fbi fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Fbi scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Fbi throws the left hand but Edwards avoids the punch easily.

Fbi misses with a series of wild punches.

Fbi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fbi lands in his opponent's guard.

Fbi trying to control the position from guard on top but Edwards is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fbi trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Edwards manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fbi is on top in guard.
Edwards keeping moving, preventing Fbi from controlling successfully.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Edwards looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Edwards is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Fbi stands up from Edwards's guard - Fbi perhaps looking for a knockout.
Fbi is breathing heavily.
Edwards moves out of range of the strikes.
A punch combination from Fbi misses.
Edwards shoots in looking for a takedown. Fbi tries to sprawl out of it but Edwards keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fbi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fbi fails to land with a series of punches.

Edwards clinches up with Fbi and pushes him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dea Fbi dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Edwards swats away the attempt to clinch by Fbi.
Fbi lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The fighters circling - Edwards throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Fbi misses with a takedown
and Edwards counters with a two punch combo.
Edwards is looking to clinch.
Fbi tries for a takedown but Edwards sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Fbi avoids the body shot from Edwards.

Edwards feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Fbi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Edwards can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Edwards advances to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Edwards is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Fbi misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Fbi actively working from the bottom here.
Fbi wants to get back to full guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Edwards in particular looking to stall.
Fbi is looking to control Edwards's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fbi avoid being mounted?

Edwards looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Edwards wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fbi keeps working.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Fbi regains full guard. Nicely done.
Fbi wants to sweep here but Edwards controlling him for the moment.
Edwards pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fbi is keeping the position for now.

Fbi is looking for a triangle but Edwards pushes his legs off easily.

Edwards stands up and beckons Fbi to join him on the feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A decent looking cross lands there for Edwards.
Edwards moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Edwards lands a with a good body shot.
Edwards misses with a two punch combination.
Edwards doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Fbi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Edwards manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Fbi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Dea Fbi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Edwards changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fbi tries to avoid it but Edwards manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fbi to the ground. Fbi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Fbi misses with a combination
and Edwards counters with a right hand to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Justin Edwards showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Edwards doesn't manage to clinch there - Fbi circles away.
Edwards wants to clinch.
Fbi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Fbi gets caught flat footed, as Edwards shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Fbi is working an open guard so Edwards takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Edwards takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Edwards avoids a kick to the body.

Fbi changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Edwards looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Edwards pushes Fbi away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Fbi gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Fbi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Edwards is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Fbi throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Fbi works to advance to full mount. Edwards defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Edwards is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Fbi lands a heavy elbow.
Edwards tries to lock up and control but Fbi gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Fbi has hold of Edwards's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Edwards manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Edwards keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Fbi trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Fbi is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Edwards has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Edwards!

Edwards drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Edwards jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Edwards wants to stand but Fbi has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Edwards is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Fbi is tapping! Great win for Edwards!
