The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Washington gets caught napping as South dives in and scores a takedown. Washington manages to retain guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
South is stalling in the full guard.
South scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
South sitting in guard here, content to control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as South accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
South trying to stand up but can't free himself from Washington's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tommy South was stalling too much, according to the referee.

South drives through with a takedown into guard.
Washington knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for South on the ground.
South works a leg free and moves into half guard.
South has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
South looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

South is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Washington defends it well.
South thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Well, if South is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
South tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Washington.
Washington wants to get back to full guard.
South trying to control the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

South is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Washington sees it coming and defends easily.
South slows the pace down in half guard.

Tommy South has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Washington looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Washington preventing the sweep.
South is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
South working Washington over with strikes.
Washington is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
South sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
South lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

South clinches with his opponent.
Washington fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Washington misses with a knee strike.
Washington has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. South is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

South breaks from the clinch.

South shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than South was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Washington might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Washington takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Washington is rocked!

It looks like Eugene Washington has been cut.

South is working to tighten his grip on Washington's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Washington has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but South is really squeezing tight and eventually Washington passes out! South breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
