Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edgar Mayhem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frederick Lancaster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frederick Lancaster told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayhem fails with the takedown.

Mayhem closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lancaster quickly recovers to half guard.
Mayhem content to control rather than advance.

Mayhem is looking for a kimura but Lancaster is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mayhem to get the leverage.
Mayhem takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Mayhem wants to stand up but Lancaster is controlling the position.

Edgar Mayhem has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Lancaster gets caught napping as Mayhem dives in and scores a takedown. Lancaster manages to retain guard.

Mayhem stands and steps away. Lancaster gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Mayhem shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lancaster pinned against the cage. Lancaster gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Edgar Mayhem.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Lancaster is looking for a sweep. Mayhem is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

We're going to have a standup here because Edgar Mayhem wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Mayhem shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mayhem was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Lancaster is not content to let Mayhem control the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lancaster connects with a leg kick. Mayhem looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Mayhem throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lancaster's waist but Lancaster gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mayhem off to one side.

Lancaster lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mayhem goes for a double leg but Lancaster avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Lancaster continues to drive forward.
