And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Assuncao!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Felipe Paraventi and Thiago Cunha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simmons misses with a takedown attempt - Assuncao sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Assuncao paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Simmons displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Assuncao throws out the jab.
Assuncao's coach down at Franklin D. Bluth Memorial Supergym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Assuncao's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Assuncao misses with a series of wild punches.
Assuncao stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Assuncao wants it to stay on the feet.
Assuncao throws a body punch but Simmons moves out of range.
Simmons looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Assuncao throws a right and a left that both miss.
Assuncao looks to throw the jab but Simmons is out of range.

Sloppy strikes from Assuncao. Those never looked like landing.

Simmons scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Simmons looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Assuncao with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Simmons moves into full mount! Assuncao won't be happy about that!
Simmons lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Assuncao hang on?

Simmons working for a submission but Assuncao is keeping him at bay.
BOOM! Simmons connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Simmons throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Assuncao has his hands clasped together but Simmons breaks the hold and Assuncao is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Simmons!

A relieved looking Brett Simmons thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
